About

25 years behind the camera

My name is Raymond Rothengatter, a photographer based in Deventer, the Netherlands. I have been working with photography for more than 25 years, exploring different genres and developing a strong technical and visual foundation.

Over the past year and a half, my work has increasingly focused on concert photography. During this period, I have photographed a growing range of emerging and internationally established artists in intimate clubs as well as larger venues, including Burgerweeshuis in Deventer, Melkweg and Paradiso in Amsterdam.

I specialize in concert, street and travel photography, focusing on moments where energy, authenticity and human presence intersect. Whether working in the intensity of a live performance, navigating unfamiliar streets abroad, or capturing unguarded moments in everyday life, my approach remains consistent: combining technical precision with raw, emotional storytelling.

I am drawn to images that feel lived-in rather than staged. In my concert photography, I focus on artists at their most powerful and vulnerable moments, with particular attention to atmosphere, movement and the connection between performer and audience.

For me, photography is more than documentation. It is a way of creating visual stories that continue to resonate beyond the stage, the crowd and the frame.
